Champion Breweries Acquires 80% of Enjoybev B.V.

On February 26, 2026, Champion Breweries Plc, a 52-year-old company based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, announced the acquisition of an 80% equity interest in Enjoybev B.V., a Netherlands-based company. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing its beverage portfolio, particularly in the ready-to-drink category.

The acquisition was quietly integrated into Champion's first quarter financial statement, which revealed a 69% year-on-year revenue increase to N14.36 billion, up from N8.48 billion in the same period of 2025. Operating profit also grew by 53% to N3.02 billion.

The acquisition is part of a broader trend among Nigerian companies to seek growth opportunities abroad, particularly in the beverage sector, as domestic markets face macroeconomic challenges. Champion Breweries raised N36.97 billion in equity during the quarter, including N1.19 billion from new ordinary shares, while also repaying N11.9 billion in borrowings, thereby improving its financial leverage.
