National Assembly Requests Review of Accommodation Policy

On September 18, the National Assembly, through its Clerk Kamoru Ogunlana Esq, called on the federal government to review its monetisation policy that affects accommodation provisions for civil and public service officers. During his closing remarks at a one-month training program for Legislative Aides in Abuja, Ogunlana highlighted the accommodation challenges faced by legislators and their aides, which hinder their efficiency in service delivery.

He noted that the lack of proximity between members and their aides has created difficulties, contrasting the current situation with the past when members were housed at the former Apo Quarters in Abuja. Ogunlana suggested that revising the monetisation policy could lead to the provision of official accommodation for National Assembly members and their personnel, thereby improving coordination and providing relief to legislative aides.
