Babachir Lawal Reveals Kwankwaso's Concerns Over ADC

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, revealed in an interview on Arise Television's Prime Time that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, was apprehensive about joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Lawal stated that he had to persuade both Kwankwaso and Peter Obi to join the ADC, emphasizing that Kwankwaso feared that nothing beneficial would come from the party with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar involved.

Lawal mentioned his active participation in ADC meetings and his role in bringing Peter Obi into the party. He also noted that he was among the founders of the ADC coalition on July 2, 2025, which appointed David Mark as national chairman.

However, Lawal later left the ADC, alleging that the primary election that nominated Atiku as the ADC's presidential candidate was significantly rigged.
