ADC Raises Alarm on Police Bias Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has raised significant concerns about the neutrality of the Nigeria Police as the 2027 general election approaches. Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa, the spokesman for the ADC Campaign Council, accused the Rivers State Police Command of attempting to charge some of its members in court without proper investigation following their arrest during a campaign rally in Isiokpo, located in the Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Nwibubasa criticized the police for not addressing previous complaints regarding attacks on ADC members and highlighted a disturbing trend of intimidation and harassment against the party's activities. He pointed out that individuals associated with the Rainbow Coalition and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have allegedly disrupted ADC meetings, with police interventions appearing to favor these groups.

Nwibubasa emphasized that democracy cannot flourish when one political party is allowed to operate freely while others face obstruction, calling for equal protection under the law for all political entities.
