Rivers Assembly to Fast-Track Fubara’s N1.854tn Budget

The Rivers State House of Assembly has assured Governor Siminalayi Fubara of a speedy consideration of his proposed N1.854 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year, despite its late submission. Speaker Martin Amaewhul confirmed that the Assembly would prioritize the budget, which aims to enhance economic resilience and development in Rivers State.

The budget includes a capital expenditure of approximately N1.405 trillion and a recurrent expenditure of N413 billion. It anticipates a 24.49% increase in operational revenue compared to the 2025 adjusted budget.

Fubara emphasized the budget's alignment with the state's fiscal realities and its focus on core objectives such as security, economic growth, and human capital development. Key allocations include N533.32 billion for infrastructure, N315 billion for education, and N105.43 billion for healthcare.

The governor urged lawmakers to support the budget for the benefit of all residents, ensuring that public funds are managed responsibly and effectively.
