APC Clears 33 Aspirants for Rivers Assembly Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared 33 aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, following a screening committee's report released after meetings at the party's secretariat in Port Harcourt. The committee, led by Chairman Muraina Ajibola, disqualified 32 aspirants due to various infractions, including failure to present necessary documents and attempts to bribe committee members.

Among the cleared aspirants are Duml Maol, the current Deputy Speaker, and Martin Amaewhul, who picked nomination forms. The committee emphasized a transparent and orderly process, despite a few incidents, including a security situation involving Victor Oko Jumbo.

The report noted that 98 aspirants participated in the screening, with 65 not cleared for reasons such as financial discrepancies and irregularities in party membership. The committee's recommendations were made in adherence to the party's democratic principles.
