Rivers govt sets up tribunals for LG election petitions

The Rivers State government has established election tribunals to address petitions related to the upcoming Local Government Council Elections set for August 30, 2025. Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, announced the constitution of these tribunals, which will be chaired by Chief Magistrates Kilsi Giadom, Harry Sotonye, and Linda Chimenem Okekem.

The announcement was made through a letter dated August 18, 2025, which surfaced online on August 25, 2025. Justice Amadi emphasized that the appointment of tribunal members follows a specific composition outlined in the letter.

He also assured the appointees that the date and time of their expected duties will be communicated by the Chief Registrar in the coming week.
