Wike Denies Involvement in APC Screening Controversy

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, addressed the controversy surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening process for aspirants in Rivers State. During an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja on a Monday, Wike emphasized that he has no role in the APC's affairs and is not a member of the party.

He stated, "I don’t know what happens in the screening," and expressed confusion over the publication of results, asserting that the matter does not concern him. Wike's comments came less than 24 hours after Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State did not appear before the APC screening committee, which is chaired by Nentaw Yilwatda.

Fubara is seeking the party's nomination for a second term as governor and a senatorial position. Yilwatda clarified that Fubara's absence was not unusual, as he was engaged in official state duties that prevented his participation in the screening process.
