Rivers APC Denies Favoritism Towards Wike's Loyalists

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted allegations of favoritism towards loyalists of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike in the candidate screening process for the House of Assembly. Chibuike Ikenga, the party's spokesman, stated that Wike is not a registered member of the APC, thus he has no influence over the screening process.

The party described the claims as false and politically motivated, insisting that the screening was conducted transparently and without external interference. The screening exercise resulted in 33 aspirants being cleared, while 65 others failed to meet the requirements.

An appeal committee has been established to address any grievances from dissatisfied aspirants, ensuring that the appeal process continues smoothly without disruption. Although Wike has publicly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election, the APC clarified that this should not be interpreted as involvement in the internal affairs of the Rivers APC.
