Niger Delta Games Trials Heat Up in Rivers and Ondo States

The trials for the Niger Delta Games are heating up in Rivers and Ondo states, with competitions in sports such as chess, table tennis, handball, wrestling, volleyball, taekwondo, swimming, powerlifting, basketball, and more. In Rivers State, the trials began on February 2, aiming to select athletes to represent the state in 16 approved sports at the Niger Delta Games.

Ibia Inyengiyikabo, the Director of Sports in Rivers State, expressed optimism about the state's prospects. In Ondo State, the trials were held in the Es Odo Local Government Area to select outstanding athletes for the upcoming games.

Segun Omoyofunmi, the Chairman of the State Liaison Committee, praised the transparent and credible selection process in Ondo State. The final Niger Delta Games are set to take place in Benin City, Edo State, from February 20 to 27, with 3,000 athletes and 500 officials expected to participate.
