Rivers State Secretariat Reconstruction to Finish by 2027

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara declared that the reconstruction of the state secretariat complex is set for completion in the first quarter of 2027. During a tour of the site in Old GRA, Port Harcourt, on a Monday, Fubara confirmed the progress of the project, which involves a comprehensive transformation and upgrade of the existing structures.

The complex, originally constructed in 1970 shortly after the creation of Rivers State in 1967, consists of multiple high-rise buildings, including a 17-storey point block and a 10-storey podium block, along with three 7-storey buildings. The renovation aims to modernize the entire complex, improve office layouts, and install modern facilities to meet current administrative standards.

Fubara emphasized the importance of inspecting the work personally to ensure that the project meets the promised completion timeline and standards for civil servants.
