SSDC Hosts Forum for Women Leaders in Port Harcourt

The South-South Development Commission (SSDC) organized an interactive forum in Port Harcourt on October 5, 2026, aimed at empowering women in the South-south region to address challenges and contribute to regional development. The event, themed “Transform, Empower and Sustain,” included women leaders from various groups and NGOs, such as the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS).
Chika Chinda, the SSDC board member representing Rivers State, stated that the commission intentionally engaged critical women stakeholders due to their vital role in grassroots mobilization. He noted that the SSDC encompasses the six states of the South-south geopolitical zone and highlighted the commission's commitment to development as mandated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Chinda also mentioned that Rivers State holds three significant positions within the commission. President Tinubu, represented by Chinda, urged women to remain hopeful and resilient amid challenges.
The forum allowed participants to share experiences and propose practical solutions to the issues discussed.
