Rivers State Government Enforces Development Approval Rules

The Rivers State Government has issued a warning against any physical development activities conducted without the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Amairigha Edward-Hart, emphasized that the ministry is the sole legally recognized authority for regulating physical planning and urban development in Rivers State.

The government urged individuals, corporate organizations, and stakeholders to comply with this directive, stating that failure to do so will result in legal repercussions. The ministry is responsible for granting approvals and permits for developments, ensuring adherence to zoning regulations, and maintaining public spaces.

The statement reiterated that any individual or entity that contravenes these regulations will be prosecuted under existing laws governing Physical Planning and Urban Development. Residents and developers are reminded to secure all necessary permits before commencing any construction or demolition projects.
