APC Denies Wike's Involvement in Screening Process

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a statement denying that Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, is a member of their party or has any role in their screening process for House of Assembly aspirants. Chibuike Ikenga, the party's public secretary, addressed journalists at the APC state secretariat in Port Harcourt, asserting that reports suggesting Wike's influence over the screening exercise are misleading and unfair.

Although Wike has publicly declared his support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ikenga emphasized that Wike's lack of membership in the APC means he cannot interfere in the screening process. The screening was conducted peacefully and transparently, with 33 aspirants cleared and 65 not cleared.

The APC plans to continue the process smoothly, allowing for appeals from aggrieved aspirants.
