RMD Advocates Women's Leadership to Combat GBV in Nigeria

Veteran actor RMD, during the inauguration of a campaign against gender-based violence (GBV) in Abuja, emphasized the necessity of placing women in leadership roles within government to facilitate effective governance. He stated that when women are involved, tasks are accomplished more easily.

RMD, alongside the Male Feminist Network (MFN), aims to lead a national campaign against GBV, urging men to change their attitudes and behaviors towards women. He highlighted that violence against women is not a struggle women should face alone, and he criticized the normalization of harmful practices.

Dr. Otiv Igbuzor, the Executive Director of the African Centre for Leadership Strategy Development (LSD), noted the importance of engaging traditional and religious leaders to challenge harmful practices affecting women.

He cited successful interventions in Cross River and Benue states, advocating for cultural change to prevent GBV and promote women's rights.
