Experts Urge Automated Weighbridge Compliance in Nigeria

Experts have called for the reintroduction of automated weighbridge compliance across Nigeria to safeguard significant investments in the road sector and alleviate the current pressure on the country's road network. This appeal was made during a keynote address by Dr.

Boboy Oyeyemi, President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), at the 10th anniversary of City Business News, themed "Logistics Engineering Room: Nigeria's Economy." Dr. Oyeyemi emphasized the need for effective enforcement of compliance to prevent the overload of trucks, which contributes to the premature degradation of roads.

Mr. Frank Nneji, founder of ABC Transport, also spoke on the importance of developing pipeline infrastructure to ease the burden on roads.

The Nigerian government has allocated N3.23 trillion for road infrastructure, highlighting the critical need for measures to protect this investment.
