Afenifere Supports Igboho's Anti-Banditry Efforts

On Thursday, Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, backed Sundai Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in his efforts to combat banditry in Yorubaland. Jare Ajayi, the organization's public secretary, stated that Igboho's actions are not directed against any specific ethnic group but are a necessary response to the terror posed by bandits.

The support comes after Igboho issued a two-hour ultimatum for the release of kidnapped individuals in Igbop Oorelop, Oyo State. The Fulani Socio-Cultural Group expressed concern over Igboho's statements, urging President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to caution him.

Afenifere insisted that Igboho's fight is against criminal elements rather than ethnic groups and called for collaboration with relevant security agencies to address the issue. The organization also urged the establishment of state police to enhance security in the region, emphasizing the need for proper training and recruitment to combat banditry effectively.
