Marian Marinica Resigns as Zimbabwe National Football Coach

Marian Marinica, the Romanian coach of Zimbabwe's national football team, has resigned from his position, as announced by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on Monday. The reasons for his departure remain undisclosed.

Marinica, aged 61, was appointed in November 2022 on a one-year contract. During his tenure, he guided Zimbabwe to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the team was eliminated in the first round after drawing with Angola and losing to Egypt and South Africa.

Following Marinica's resignation, former national team captain Kaitano Tembo has been appointed as the caretaker coach. Tembo will lead the team in the upcoming United Cup tournament scheduled to take place in London from May 26 to 30, featuring teams from Zimbabwe, India, Jamaica, and Nigeria.
