Ronaldo Demands Stadium Bans Over Jota Chants

Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Al Nassr and a member of the Portugal national team, has condemned fans who chanted the name of the late Diogo Jota during a Saudi Pro League match between Al-Hilal and Al-Taawoun on Saturday, which ended in a 6-0 victory for Al-Hilal. The chants were directed at Ruben Neves, a teammate of both Ronaldo and Jota.

Jota, who previously played for Liverpool and Portugal, died in a car crash in Spain last July at the age of 28, an event that profoundly impacted Neves. Ronaldo expressed his outrage on social media, stating that the league must take action against such behavior and that those responsible should face lifetime stadium bans.

Neves, visibly upset by the chants, sarcastically applauded the supporters and later remarked, “I just hope they don’t go to pray later after what they did.” The Saudi football authorities are now under pressure to address the incident.
