Rotary International Donates Peace Institute to OOU

Rotary International District 9111 donated a Peace Institute building to Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, as part of efforts to prevent conflict and promote sustainable peace. District Governor Henri Akinyel emphasized the importance of peace education, stating that the institute will focus on training peace builders across various sectors of society.

The initiative aims to foster dialogue and research to address conflicts proactively rather than reactively. Akinyel recalled a peace summit organized earlier in the year, which highlighted the need for quality education, including peace education.

Ogun State Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedel acknowledged Rotary's significant contribution and congratulated OOU's Vice Chancellor and management for facilitating the project. Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Olatundun Abosed expressed gratitude for the investment in peace promotion, noting its potential to support conflict prevention and community development.
