Senate Chaos as Akpabio Threatens Walkout Over Rules

Oshiomhole repeatedly attempted to raise points of order, which Akpabio countered by reminding him of the procedural steps outlined in the Senate rules. The session's disorder began when Akpabio moved to adopt the vote on amendments numbered 194, 195, and 196.

Oshiomhole's insistence on raising points of order was met with admonishments from Senate Whip Tahir Monguno, who urged adherence to Senate rules. Akpabio emphasized the importance of understanding the rules, particularly regarding eligibility for contesting principal offices in the Senate, stating that senators must serve at least two consecutive terms before being eligible for nomination.
