Sadiq Umar Faces Eight Weeks Out with Hamstring Injury

Sadiq Umar, a 29-year-old striker for Valencia, is facing an absence of up to eight weeks due to a hamstring injury. He limped out of a training session on Monday, following a full 90-minute performance in Valencia's 3-1 defeat to Deportivo La Coruña, where he scored the only goal for his team.

Valencia confirmed the injury in a statement, indicating that Umar suffered damage to his right hamstring during the match against RC Deportivo de A Coruña. He will undergo a medical, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation plan at the Sports City until he can rejoin the team.

This injury is a significant setback for Valencia and coach Carlos Corberán, as Umar has been a key player this season. In his absence, teammates Arnaut Danjuma and Hugo Duro are expected to take on more responsibility.

Additionally, Umar's injury could prevent him from participating in Nigeria's qualifying fixtures for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in September, although his role in the Super Eagles has been limited under coach Éric Chelle.
