Zaidu Sanusi to Miss Two Months with Injury

Zaidu Sanusi, a 29-year-old defender for FC Porto, is set to be sidelined for approximately two months following an adductor injury sustained during Porto’s 3-0 victory over Académico de Viseu on Saturday, August 30. Medical tests confirmed the injury, and reports indicate he is not expected to return until after the next international break.

Sanusi was forced to leave the match in the 17th minute after attempting to play the ball. Martim Fernandes replaced him after he received treatment but could not continue.

FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli expressed concern about Sanusi’s condition, suggesting the injury appeared serious. Sanusi had played every minute of Porto’s league campaign prior to this incident and remains a key player despite being in the final year of his contract.

His expected absence may impact Nigeria's participation in the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, beginning in September. Porto continues to lead the league standings with 12 points from four matches.
