Sahara Group Launches $5,000 Energy Journalism Fellowship

Sahara Group has introduced the Asharami Energy Report Fellowship, committing $5,000 to support journalists across Africa in their coverage of energy issues. This initiative is part of Sahara Group's efforts to advance energy journalism and strengthen the narrative around Africa's energy future.

The fellowship will focus on sustainable energy transitions and will take place from January to October 30, 2026, culminating in an event on July 22, 2026, in Lagos, Nigeria. Ejiro Grai, Director of Government and Sustainability at Sahara Group, emphasized the need for accurate reporting in the increasingly complex energy landscape.

The fellowship encourages journalists from various media platforms to submit research stories that uncover the dynamics shaping Africa's energy future. Bethel Obioma, Head of Corporate Communications at Sahara Group, noted that the fellowship aims to empower storytellers and galvanize a new wave of journalism in the energy sector.
