Sahara Group Launches $50,000 Energy Innovation Program

Sahara Group announced the launch of the $50,000 Asharami M.A.D Equation program, designed to advance energy access and strengthen system resilience across Africa. The initiative aims to address critical challenges within Africa's innovation ecosystem by transforming groundbreaking academic research into practical industrial applications.

Ejiro Grai, Director of Governance and Sustainability at Sahara Group, stated that Africa's energy future will increasingly depend on the ability to convert knowledge into action. The program intends to unlock the potential within Africa's academic research community and connect innovation with industry needs.

Bethel Obioma, Head of Corporate Communications at Sahara Group, emphasized that the Asharami M.A.D Equation goes beyond funding to create real impact by empowering scholars and innovators. The competition will feature a total prize pool of $50,000, with $25,000 for the winner, $15,000 for second place, and $10,000 for third place, along with mentorship and technical support.

Applications close on June 20, 2026, and the program will focus on challenges in the oil and gas power sector.
