Yobe Police Warn Against Misinformation During Sallah

The Yobe State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer Dungu Abdulkarim, has raised concerns regarding the spread of false alarms and unverifiable information, particularly during the Sallah celebrations. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command highlighted that recent incidents at prayer gatherings caused chaos among worshippers, which could have devastating consequences, including injuries and loss of life due to stampedes.

The police urged residents to avoid raising false alarms and to report any suspicious activities discreetly to security personnel. Abdulkarim emphasized the importance of verifying information before dissemination, especially on social media, to prevent unnecessary fear and confusion.

The command also called on organizers of prayer gatherings to coordinate closely with security agencies to ensure smooth and safe events, with adequate security personnel deployed across designated locations. Additionally, Emmanuel Ado, the Commissioner of Police in the state, congratulated Muslims on completing Ramadan and extended Sallah greetings while urging cooperation with security agencies for a peaceful celebration.
