Sanwo-Olu Appoints New LASU Vice-Chancellor

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU). The announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement on Wednesday.

Professor Badejo, born on August 4, 1962, is a Professor of Guidance and Counselling and succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure has concluded. Olatunji-Bello, who began her term in September 2021, highlighted significant achievements during her administration, including a 96% success rate in the university's first-year accreditation exercise and an increase in internally generated revenue from N3 billion to N13 billion.

She described her tenure as transformative, making LASU the most subscribed university in Nigeria and the most digitally advanced among its peers. Professor Badejo holds a PhD and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos.
