Sanwo-Olu Lauds LASU as Nigeria's Top University Choice

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended Lagos State University (LASU) for its achievement as Nigeria's most preferred university, with 84,426 applications for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. This placed LASU ahead of other institutions, including Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Ibadan, which received 78,240 and 60,370 applications, respectively.

Sanwo-Olu noted that this ranking reflects the growing confidence of students and parents in LASU's academic standards and infrastructure improvements. He emphasized that the university's progress is a result of focused efforts to foster an academic environment conducive to success.

The governor reiterated his administration's ambition to transform LASU into one of the world's top 10 institutions, highlighting the importance of investing in education as part of the state's long-term development agenda. He praised the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof.

Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello for introducing innovative approaches that have contributed to LASU's rise and urged the university community to maintain its standards.
