Sanwo-Olu’s Wife Leads Community Sanitation in Lagos

On Saturday, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of Lagos State Governor, led residents of Eputu London in Ibeju-Lekki LGA during the July edition of the state's monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

She emphasized the importance of sustained environmental responsibility and commended the community for their growing environmental consciousness, noting that residents began cleanup activities three days prior to the designated day. Dr.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the participation of both adults and children, despite challenges from the rainy season, and stressed the need to involve young people in environmental management. She announced that from next month, tertiary institution students would also participate.

Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, stated that the state government is intensifying efforts to improve waste management infrastructure, including developments at the Olusosun waste management facility.

He urged residents to take ownership of waste management and avoid dumping refuse in public spaces.
