Saraki Denies Endorsing Tinubu for Second Term Bid

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has publicly denied claims that he is backing Bola Tinubu's second term bid, describing the assertion as mischievous. The claims arose after Demola Olanrewaju suggested that Saraki's recent comments on power rotation implied indirect support for Tinubu.

In a statement issued in Abuja by Yusuph Olaniyonu on Saraki's behalf, it was clarified that the interpretation of Saraki's remarks was misleading and incorrect. Saraki's media office reiterated that he has not endorsed any individual for the presidency, emphasizing that he is committed to the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) internal processes for selecting a candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Saraki also expressed his belief that the presidency should rotate back to the northern region by 2031, aiming to eliminate any ambiguity regarding the next presidential succession. He cautioned against political actors who might twist his comments for personal gain, warning that such actions could create confusion within the opposition.
