Supreme Court to Rule on ADC, PDP Leadership Appeals

The Supreme Court of Nigeria will deliver judgments on April 30, 2026, regarding high-stakes political appeals related to leadership crises within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The ADC case, marked as SC CV 180/2026, is scheduled for 2 PM, although the time for the PDP case remains unconfirmed.

The ADC is embroiled in a protracted leadership dispute involving former Senate President David Mark and a rival faction led by Nafiu Bala Gomb. The appeal contends that the appellate court overstepped its bounds by intervening in internal party affairs.

The case was heard on April 22, 2026, by a five-member panel led by Justice Moham Garba, who subsequently reserved judgment. Counsel for the ADC has urged the court to deliver a judgment within three days, warning that delays could jeopardize the party's participation in the 2027 elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also been implicated in actions that could affect the ADC's leadership recognition.
