Ogun State Dissolves Scrabble Association Leadership

The Ogun State Sports Council announced the dissolution of all sports association executives in the state, effective July 31, 2026, as per a circular signed by acting director of Sports, Oluseyi Sonde. This decision affects various associations, including the Ogun State Scrabble Association, which was led by Adekoyejo Adegbesan, who is also the President of the Pan African Scrabble Association (PANASA).

The outgoing executives were commended for their contributions to sports in Ogun State. Under Adegbesan's leadership, the Ogun State Scrabble Association achieved unprecedented success, winning titles at the National Sports Festival, the NSF Inter Club Championship, and the Asaph Zadok National Scrabble Championship.

Ogun State is recognized for having the top-ranked male players and the highest-ranked female player, Bukunmi Afolayan. Additionally, three members of Team Nigeria, who won the Best Country title at the World Scrabble Championship, are from Ogun State.

Adegbesan expressed gratitude for the support received during his tenure.
