SDP Praises INEC for Extending Candidate Upload Deadline

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) expressed appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for extending the deadline for the upload of presidential and national assembly candidates by three days, moving the deadline from July 11, 2026, to July 14, 2026. This decision, described as a demonstration of fairness and commitment to strengthening Nigeria's democratic process, followed an appeal from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

The SDP's statement, signed by its National Chairman, Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gomb, noted that the extension allows political parties additional time to resolve outstanding administrative issues that arose during the nomination process.

The first three days of the exercise commenced on June 26, 2026, and the SDP emphasized the importance of this extension for broader participation and inclusivity in the nomination process. The party commended the leadership of IPAC, led by Hon.

Yusuf Mamman Dantal, for fostering constructive engagement among stakeholders in Nigeria's democratic process.
