SDP Uploads 1,015 Assembly Candidates to INEC Portal

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) announced on Monday that it has started uploading the details of its 1,015 candidates for the State Houses of Assembly elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal. This follows the completion of submissions for its presidential, governorship, and National Assembly candidates.

The announcement came shortly after the ruling All Progressives Congress revealed it had uploaded details of its 27 governorship candidates and over 60% of its State Assembly candidates, ahead of the August 8 deadline set by INEC. SDP National Chairman, Prof.

Sadiq Gombe, stated that the party is on track to meet the submission deadline, noting an increase in candidates from 993 to 1,015 due to the restructuring of 22 constituencies. The INEC nomination portal opened on July 18, and the deadline for submissions was extended to August 8.

Gombe also received an Award of Excellence from the Arewa Students Union, which he attributed to the entire SDP family.
