SDP Expels Members, Elects New Leadership in Abuja

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) held its national convention in Abuja on Wednesday, where it expelled several members, including Adewale Adebayo, Olu Agunloye, and Rufu Ayienigba. Shehu Gabam was elected as the new national chairman, leading a newly formed National Working Committee (NWC).

The convention ratified the expulsions and confirmed Gabam's leadership as authentic by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Other expelled members included Dr.

Sadiq Umar, Abunakar Gomb, Joseph Abu, and Maggi Batubo. The newly elected NWC members include Abimbola Atanda as presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, and various other roles filled by individuals such as Ibrahim Biu, Uchechukwu Chukwuma, and Hauwa Aliyu.

Gabam emphasized the party's commitment to principles and unity, aiming to provide a people-oriented government that addresses the needs of Nigerians, particularly youth and women.
