This statement was issued by the party's national public secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, in response to claims made by former national chairman Shehu Musa Gabam, which the SDP described as a deliberate distortion of court judgments intended to mislead the public. The party clarified that a recent court appeal concerning the Ekiti State governorship primary election does not affect its leadership structure. Gabam was expelled following disciplinary procedures for alleged financial misconduct, with the expulsion ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on March 9, 2026.
