SDP and TNN Form Alliance Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gomb, has announced a strategic alliance with Team New Nigeria (TNN) in Kano as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

This collaboration is seen as a critical step towards strengthening Nigeria's democracy. During a summit in Kano, Gomb emphasized that the alliance reflects shared ideologies aimed at promoting social justice and economic prosperity.

He noted the historical significance of this partnership, recalling the formation of the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) in 1950. The alliance follows consultations regarding political realignment, particularly as TNN seeks to secure registration as a political party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Gomb assured TNN members of equal opportunities within the SDP and expressed concerns over Nigeria's current political and economic state, highlighting the need for a credible alternative to restore hope and confidence in the democratic process. He acknowledged key figures facilitating the merger, including Adewol Adebayo, and commended TNN's leadership for their commitment to national development.
