SDP Wins Supreme Court Case, Selected by EU for Training

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) announced three major milestones ahead of the 2027 Osun governorship elections. The party secured a Supreme Court ruling on May 22, 2026, affirming the validity of its governorship candidate and upholding its internal processes.

Additionally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed Dr. Oluwagunloye as National Secretary, Hajiya Maryam Magibatubo as National Treasurer, and Alhaji Bello Usman as Financial Secretary.

The SDP also reported the receipt of certified bank statements revealing over N740 million in transactions, significantly higher than the previously declared N32 million, with allegations of misappropriation involving expelled officials. The party has initiated legal action against the former National Chairman and former National Youth Leader for alleged fraud and misappropriation of N626 million.

Furthermore, the European Union selected SDP for its “train the trainers” program, aimed at enhancing party leadership and election management, with over 200 leaders participating.
