SDP Wins Supreme Court Case, Selected by EU for Training

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) announced three major milestones ahead of the 2027 elections, including a Supreme Court ruling on May 22, 2026, which affirmed the validity of its governorship candidate for Osun State and upheld the party's internal processes. Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar-Gombe, the National Chairman, stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed Dr. Oluwagunloye as National Secretary, Hajiya Maryam Magibatubo as National Treasurer, and Alhaji Bello Usman as Financial Secretary as the authentic signatories to the party’s account.

The SDP also received certified bank statements revealing over N740 million in transactions, with a significant portion allegedly misappropriated by expelled officials, leading to ongoing legal action for criminal conspiracy and fraud involving N626 million. Additionally, the European Union selected SDP for its "train the trainers" program, with over 200 party leaders participating to enhance election management and administration.
