SEC Clears Dangote Refinery IPO at ₦525/share, Opens Sept 14

Nigeria's capital markets prepare for one of Africa's largest IPOs as Dangote Refinery seeks to raise ₦2.15 trillion through the public markets.

Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission has authorized Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals to list 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each on the public market. Should investors fully subscribe, the offering would mobilize approximately ₦2.15 trillion, establishing it as a transformative transaction for both the Nigerian bourse and Africa's financial landscape.

Vetiva Advisory Services Limited leads the advisory role and manages transaction coordination throughout the process. Subscription launches formally on September 14, 2026, welcoming participation from Nigerian and international investors.

The capital structure aims to expand ownership stakes in the refinery while mobilizing funds required for planned capacity enhancements. Regulatory clearance delivered via official correspondence to the lead issuing house marks completion of a critical approval milestone.

Aliko Dangote, founder of Dangote Group and Africa's wealthiest person, experienced wealth expansion to $31.5 billion following market circulation of the IPO announcement. His fortune had measured $25.6 billion at year-end previously, demonstrating expansion in underlying asset values.

According to available reporting, proceeds from this offering would finance increasing the refinery's throughput from 700,000 barrels per day toward 1.4 million barrels per day, though certain sources present marginally different expansion targets. The IPO launch coincides with strengthening appetite for Nigerian equities among institutional and retail investors.

Vetiva Advisory Services orchestrates engagement among DPRP management, SEC officials, and market infrastructure providers to facilitate the subscription phase smoothly. This transaction will gauge investor enthusiasm for large-cap energy-sector opportunities within Nigeria's equities environment.
