Security Agencies Cautioned Against Establishment Of Multiple Special Forces

Security Adviser to the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Usman, has cautioned against the proliferation of multiple special forces within Nigeria's security agencies. Usman warned that the establishment of these elite units could weaken national security rather than enhance it.

He suggested the creation of a single, centralized national special operations force that would operate independently from existing security formations to improve coordination and focus in addressing the country's security challenges. Usman emphasized the need for a unified structure to prevent duplication of roles, unhealthy competition, and confusion among security agencies.

He highlighted the importance of a cohesive and strategic response to threats like terrorism, banditry, and organized crime. Usman called on the Federal Government to streamline the country's security architecture by forming an independent national special operations force composed of elite personnel from various agencies.

He stressed the significance of joint operations, intelligence sharing, and a unified approach to effectively deal with Nigeria's complex security environment.
