Abuja Group Plans Road Walk for National Unity and Security

The Civil Society Group Concern Nigerian Peace Security Nation Unity announced plans to stage a peaceful road walk in Abuja on Monday to mobilize support against insecurity and promote national unity. Comrade Isah Abubakar, who convened the group, stated that security is not solely the government's responsibility; every citizen has a role in safeguarding the nation.

The road walk aims to draw attention to the urgent need for collaboration among citizens, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious organizations, and political actors to confront security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and violent crime. The group noted that insecurity has evolved over the years, with the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast and widespread incidents of banditry and farmer-herder clashes affecting various regions.

Abubakar urged political leaders to set aside partisan interests and work together towards a common national agenda to defeat insecurity. He also called on religious leaders to promote peace and respect for human life while encouraging Nigerians to participate in advocacy campaigns for public safety.
