Urgent Measures Recommended to Strengthen Nigeria's Borders

A security summit held in Abuja brought together key stakeholders from military, security, intelligence, and law enforcement sectors to examine the current state of Nigeria's borders amidst emerging security threats. The seminar, organized by the National Defence College (NDC) in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), underscored the critical role of effective border management in safeguarding national sovereignty and promoting regional stability.

Key recommendations included the urgent need to fast-track the delimitation and demarcation of Nigeria's international boundaries, strengthen engagement with border communities, enhance cross-border cooperation, and improve inter-agency coordination. The seminar was attended by serving and retired senior military officers representing various security and law enforcement agencies, highlighting the collaborative effort required to address evolving security challenges.
