Customs Summit in Kebbi Addresses Border Security Threats

The Nigeria Customs Service organized a security summit in Kebbi State to tackle ongoing attacks by terrorists and criminal elements affecting border communities. The summit, held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, gathered security agencies, traditional rulers, and government officials to discuss strategies for enhancing security and protecting lives and property.

Bashir Adewal Adeniyi, representing Deputy Comptroller Timi Bomadi, emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders, including the military, police, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Reports indicated that civilians and security personnel have lost their lives due to repeated attacks by bandits and terrorists targeting checkpoints in the border areas of Kebbi State.

Customs Area Comptroller Mahmoud Ibrahim Matawal commended Governor Nasir Idris for supporting security agencies and noted the donation of two operational vehicles to enhance surveillance along border communities. The summit is part of ongoing efforts by Customs headquarters to engage stakeholders in devising strategies to curb criminal activities.
