Musa and Matawalle Reaffirm Security Commitment in Borno

On Tuesday, during an operational visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, Minister of Defence Christoph Gwabin Musa and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle reaffirmed that restoring peace and security across Nigeria remains a top priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. The visit aimed to assess the evolving security situation, particularly the resurgence of insurgent activities in the northeast.

They received briefings at the Nigerian Air Force base in Maiduguri and met with Major General E. Abubakar and other senior military officials.

The ministers also visited the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al Amin El Kanemi, to commiserate with the people of Borno State and assess the situation on the ground. They highlighted the cross-border nature of security challenges and pledged continued support for military operations.

The delegation later paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the Maimalari Cantonment military cemetery, honoring those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
