Senate Deputy Leader Lola Ashiru Declares Intent for 2027 Kwara Governorship Race

Senate Deputy Leader and Senator representing Kwara South, Lola Ashiru, has officially declared his intention to run for the Kwara Governorship in the 2027 general elections. Ashiru made this announcement during a meeting with the executive members of the Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Kwara State.

He expressed confidence in his chances, highlighting his experience and understanding of the requirements to lead the state effectively. Ashiru also addressed the issue of border security, particularly in light of recent bandit attacks in Kaiama Local Government Area.

He called for a proactive, prosperity-driven approach to border security to empower border communities and reduce susceptibility to criminal infiltration. Ashiru commended the resilience of the residents of Woro and Kaiama and urged coordinated efforts among states sharing boundaries to enhance security measures.
