Senate Honors Adeniyi for Role in Tinubu's Election

The Senate of Nigeria mourned the passing of Senator Anthony Adeniyi, SAN, who represented the Ekiti South Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015. Adeniyi, who died on June 24, 2026, at the age of 75, was the Ekiti state chairman of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) and was instrumental in mobilizing support for President Bola Tinubu's candidacy in the 2023 general elections.

A motion on his death was presented by Senator Yemi Adaramodu (APC Ekiti South), who praised Adeniyi as a respected lawyer and politician known for his dedication to public service and integrity. Adaramodu highlighted Adeniyi's significant contributions to the mobilization efforts that preceded Tinubu's presidency.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (LP Abia South) also acknowledged Adeniyi's commitment to democracy and his contributions in the Senate, recalling his sense of humor and the affectionate nickname "herbalist" given by colleagues.
