Senate Honors Former Sen. Anthony Adeniyi After Passing

On Wednesday, the Senate mourned the passing of former Sen. Anthony Adeniyi, SAN, who represented the Ekiti South senatorial district from 2011 to 2015 under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Adeniyi died on June 24, 2026, at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy celebrated for his humility, patriotism, and commitment to justice and democracy. Sen.

Yemi Adaramadu led the motion, highlighting Adeniyi's dedication to national development through principled legislative service. Sen.

Enyinnaya Abaribe recalled Adeniyi's humor and his achievement of becoming a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) while serving as a senator, a feat many considered impossible. Following the tributes, the Senate observed a minute of silence and resolved to send a delegation, led by Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele, to convey condolences to Adeniyi's family.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed that the condolences of the 10th Senate be formally expressed.
