Akpabio Commends Ngwu's N100M Scholarship Initiative

Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised Senator Osita Ngwu for his scholarship and bursary award initiative aimed at supporting 4,000 indigent students in the Enugu West Senatorial District for the 2025-2026 academic year. Akpabio noted that N250 million has been earmarked for this scholarship scheme, which is the largest educational support program undertaken by the current National Assembly.

He announced a personal donation of N100 million to support this initiative, emphasizing the importance of investing in education for the future of Enugu State. Senator Ngwu shared that his vision for educational support began 30 years ago and has evolved into the Enugu West Academy, which has positively impacted 3,500 students across five local government areas.

The academy currently has 4,000 students enrolled and provides free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) preparatory classes. The event, held at the Enugu International Conference Centre, also featured the presentation of cheques worth N5.5 million to offset school fees for three postgraduate students.
