Senator Kalu Mourns Ex-PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur

On 13 September 2026, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, expressed his condolences following the passing of Dr. Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Kalu characterized Tukur as an accomplished businessman, seasoned public administrator, and elder statesman, whose contributions to Nigeria’s economic, political, and maritime development would be remembered for generations.

In his statement, Kalu highlighted Tukur's notable career, including his leadership of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), his tenure as Governor of the old Gongola State, and his role as Minister of Industries. He also acknowledged Tukur’s efforts in promoting African enterprise through his leadership roles in the African Business Roundtable and the NEPAD Business Group.
